September 16-17, 2006 -- DSHB shows at Pennock Point Sporthorses, Reddick, FL
This was Rebel's first overnight show. He walked into the barn on Friday night like he'd been going to
strange places all of his life and behaved beautifully for the whole show. The plan for this show was just
to get him experience in a strange barn and in a covered arena, and he improved throughout the
weekend.
September, 2006 -- AA rated North Florida Hunter/Jumper show, Green Cove Springs, FL
Rebel's first hunter/jumper show, where he competed in the Yearling Hunter Breeding class. He didn't bat
an eye at all of the new things, including the jumps smothered in flowers, etc. He finished 2nd to a very
mature yearling stallion who was smaller in height, but with a very chunky, filled out body. We were
surprised when Rebel turned out to be a great calming influence on his friend Opie (2-yr-old) who
normally is stressed out at shows and won't stand and relax...with Rebel at his side, Opie was able to
relax and enjoy the show!
July 7, 2006 -- Summer Sizzler I, DSHB show at Canterbury, Gainesville, FL
2005 Colt/Gelding Class -- 2nd PLACE! Rebel was a star, finishing second to a heavily shown yearling
colt on his score of 75%! He is now qualified for the Southeast Championships in Georgia!
Rebel is the first foal out of a 16.3 hh TB mare who retired from racing as a 7 year old (over 70 lifetime
starts on both turf and dirt). She's a big, lanky mare with very good movement and athleticism.
Rebel will be a very big boy; we'll be surprised if he finishes under 17.0 hh (he was 16.2hh in August,
2007). A typical Stanhopes Diddicoy foal, he has a very sweet, easy-going temperament that will make
him a wonderful amateur horse.
